Show full item record Abstract Metropoles mūsdienās ir galvenie ekonomikas dzinējspēki, un ir konstatēts, ka dažādu integrēta metropoles areāla pārvaldība var veicināt dzīves kvalitāti un ekonomisko izaugsmi kā metropoles areālā, tā arī valstī kopumā.

Šī darba mērķis ir sniegt priekšlikumus Rīgas metropoles areāla pārvaldības uzlabošanai. Analizējot pārvaldības iespēja pārvaldību raksturojošus faktorus, tika secināts, ka Rīgas metropoles areāla pārvaldība šobrīd tiek balstīta augšupējā pieejā — pašvaldību un citu institūciju sadarbībā.

Taču šī pieeja nav nodrošinājusi sadarbību metropoles areāla attīstībai būtiskās jomās.

Tika secināts, ka lielākā ietekme uz pārvaldību ir politiskajai videi un Rīgas dominancei metropoles areāla pašvaldību vidū. Darbā izvirzītie priekšlikumi rosina palielināt valsts iesaisti Rīgas metropoles areāla pārvaldībā.

Metropolises are the main economic driving forces, and integrated governance of metropolitan areas has come to be seen as means of enhancing quality of life and economic growth in the metropolis and nationally. The aim of this study is to look into options for improving metropolitan governance in the Riga metropolitan area.

It analyses several factors which describe the state of metropolitan governance and concludes that the current pārvaldības iespēja to metropolitan governance is based on bottom-up initiatives of municipalities and other actors.

However, it has not been successful in facilitating integrated governance in fields crucial to development of the metropolitan area.

Suggestions address the need to increase the involvement of the national government in governance of the Riga metropolitan area.
